Five Stylish Booties for (F)all!

Sep 11, 2015
September is an interesting month in New York City. The crazy weather makes picking out an outfit a little taxing. Wearing flip flops or sandals is usually out of the question but it's too hot for knee length boots.

This is where booties come in. We love how versatile they can be. You can pair them with tights of any thickness, cute tweed shorts and of course minis! We also love how booties can be very rock-n-roll, professional or casual. With so many to choose from we combed through some of our favorite sites for footwear and found a few styles we think everyone needs in their shoe collection.

I can't wait to get my hands on a few of these booties. I keep trying to figure out with pair is my favorite but that's impossible to do. I predict I'll have all of them on my shoe rack by the end of October!

Which pair is your favorite and how will you wear em during these faux chilly days to come?

Celebrity Fashion Spotlight: Jessica Simpson

Celebrity Fashion Spotlight: Jessica Simpson

Celebrities love to expand their resumes and ways to double their earnings  by slapping their names on perfumes, clothes, handbags, etc. Some celebrities fail while other flourish. A perfect example of that is Jessica Simpson. Gone are the days where she is just known as a singer because now her name can be seen in more than the CD aisle.
When she first came on to the scene I paid no mind because I had little faith in her designs but the more time passes the more I give her credit. Her fashion line is is great because not only is it reasonably priced (dresses are in the $60-150 range) but the cuts are perfect for someone looking to stay stylish and fun without trying too hard.

Her pieces can easily be mixed and matched. Mix them up with any of her fragrances from her Fancy line and you're ready to hit the town!

My favorite is the white cutout dress with the sheer detailing. What's yours?

Stylish Workout Gear for 2014

Jan 20, 2014
Working out doesn't have to be unfashionable. Wearing black baggy clothes and old boring sneakers never motivates me to work out. Having styling clothes from adidas by Stella McCartney and a top in 2014's Radiant Orchid will have your fashion sense and dedication complimented!

The holiday season is my second favorite time of the year because it means it's time to pair all that sparkles with white hot dresses. Check out this NYE look. A Grecian dress with a loose undo, a contrasting statement necklace and smokey eyes are all you need to a timeless NYE look. Pair it with gold pumps and a cuff wristlet and you're ready to ring in the new year!

The Great Lace Debate-Spring/Summer 2013

May 8, 2013

Summer 2013 by theclosetfashionista-nyc

Lace shorts was a hot topic between some ladies and I in a group that we have where we discuss everything under the sun. I have to accept that not everyone is fashion forward so when the topic of lace shorts was brought up with a bit of nonacceptance I was a bit shocked. It's spring and 'tis the season for white hot lace short. Now when I talk about lace shorts I mean ones that have a lining, not just straight up crochet because that's only appropriate for the beach or a boardwalk as a cover up. White lace, as a main attraction or accent, adds a bit of delicacy to any look. Paired with this seasons hot colors, white or nude shoes and minimum accessories it's one of the easiest trends to wear year after year without looking dated.

I can't wait to put some extra bronzer on my legs, throw on some espadrilles and rock my lace shorts for a brunch date or a beach party down on Playa Del Ray or Santa Monica. Here's an outfit that I put together on one of my favorite sites, Polyvore, to showcase just not stylish white lace shorts can look when not thought of as lingerie.
