Fibolica Hair Thickening Fibers Review + Giveaway

Feb 23, 2015

I get a lot of products to review and run giveaways on and Fibolica's Hair Thickening Fibers was one of them. I've used thickening fibers before for my eyelashes but wasn't crazy about it because I didn't want anything that could easily irritate my contacts.

Now my hair isn't thinning...it's actually the complete opposite and is at its thickest in the crown, so I decided to give this a try on my hairline to see if my baby hairs appeared thicker than normal.

The results were okay. I didn't need to use a lot of it because of the fact that I have thick hair as it is but I did like that it wasn't a messy product, didn't have a weird smell, and did give the illusion of thicker hair around the area that was always naturally sparse.

So if you want to give it a shot and have larger areas to cover Fibolica is letting one of my reader receive their own supply to check out. Leave a comment below and I'll pick someone a random on 3/12. You're welcome ;-)

Ageless Derma Swiss Apple Stem Cell Moisturizer

Here's another Ageless Derma product that I've been using for the last few weeks. It's their Swiss Apple Stem Cell Oil-Free Continuous Moisturizer. Just like their moisturizer with spf 35, this one is really light on the skin and doesn't leave it feeling oily or greasy. Which it shouldn't because it's oil free but well all know that sometimes a product like this can still give us that frying pan look.

Just like any other moisturizer this one promises to keep your skin hydrated which helps slow down the appearance of fine lines which is what anyone over 26 should make sure their products can do. But unlike all the ones on the market this one outwardly claims that due to Swill Apple Stem Cells, it lets the moisturizer works continuously throughout the day as if no time has passed since you first put it on. It pretty much says that the potency doesn't diminish throughout the day thanks to the stem cells and a bunch of other ingredients that make this pack a good punch.

When I used this product I will say that I did like it. It seemed effective, left my skin feeling and looking hydrated throughout the day and it didn't make my skin look or feel oily. I think this would be a good moisturizer to wear if your foundation always has spf in it since this would blend in easily and give you everything that your skin needs when you walk out the door which is coverage, protection and hydration.

So now it's your turn to give it a try. Enter my giveaway below for a chance to try this out for yourself!

Relaxing Music For My Ears

Feb 19, 2015

A few months back I wrote about a CD I was using to help me sleep. I was going through a lot at the time and nothing was working. Pills, teas--my brain refused to shut off. But thankfully I was able to get my brain to calm down by listening to the cues and allowing myself to shut down and finally get some sleep.

Now that I'm all moved and other things in my life are in place I started decorating my balcony with plants to create a sort of paradise. Now that it's finally staying warm at night here in SoCal I'm able to sit out there after work and write or just relax. The Escapes CD by Jeff Gold that I recently received is a nice addition to my outdoor space. The music is extremely soothing and relaxing. Whenever I want to sit outside and write this is what I listen to now because it won't distract me with song lyrics and it lets me stay focused on what I want to do. It reminds me of something I would hear in a yoga class or while I'm getting a massage which is never ever a bad place to feel like I'm in.

Just like with the Sleep Well CD, they're letting me give one away to one of my awesome readers. So if you're stuck in a writing rut and could use some nice chill music to get you back to it, or want new yoga tunes, let me know and you might be lucky enough to get one.

Tired of Not Having Pandora Overseas? Not Anymore!

Feb 18, 2015
***This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Trust.Zone VPN for PayPerPost. All opinions are 100% mine***

A few weeks ago I was asked to check out and write about a site called Trust.Zone VPN one when I had expressed frustration on Twitter over not being able to use Pandora in the Dominican Republic and the UK. I was never really big on using proxy sites because I don't like the idea of logging into any account using a third party site because my Gmail and Facebook accounts are like the most sacred things ever. Luckily, my Pandora isn't, so when I was in Mexico last week and wanted to listen to some familiar 80's tunes I was able to use Trust.Zone to make it possible.
What I liked about it, based on the free trial that I used, is that I was able to do something I otherwise wouldn't have ben able to do. It's simple as that. Oh, and it didn't look sketchy. So maybe, just maybe, I would have used it to log into my Facebook account if it was banned or blocked down south. Trust.Zone is just like any VPN in that it hides your location for situations like the one I just mentioned. It also works well if you're the type that doesn't want people to know what you've been looking for based on your IP address. But my readers don't have to worry about that. Right..? Right!

Trust.Zone has a free, 5 day/5gb trial offer for anyone that wants to check it out and their unlimited service is gets as low as $3.99 a month if you sign up for a years membership. It's worth a shot if you want to stay totally anonymous on the web or if you're a frequent traveler that likes to unwind with some chill music, Netflix or go on whichever social media account you want to go on without a hassle.

Made It Myself: Almond Milk

Feb 11, 2015

I've been on a bit of a health kick over tw last 6+ months and have been trying to remove needless chemicals from my diet. I know...it's funny coming from me, but I digress.

My first true experiment with this was making almond milk. I started to drink it because I can't really stomach milk (pun intended) and have heard bad things about soy milk. I'm trying to live my life based on the no/low carb/high protein diet and figured almond milk was the best. But what's with all the extra ingredients and sugar? I hate sugar by the way and avoid it at all costs.

Needless to say I decided to just make my own using my trusty Magic Bullet and some tips that I found online. It was a 2 day process but the result is amazing, tasty and good for me. Sadly, almonds aren't very cheap but it takes about 2.5 lbs to make 32 oz that lasts 2-4 days. I'm excited to never have to buy almond milk again.

The first thing I had to do was soak the almonds for about 2 days. This not only lets the almonds soften and expand a bit but it let me make a creamier milk. The longer you let the soak the creamier the milk will be.

Next I rinsed the almonds and mixed about 1/2 at a time with fresh water and a bit of pure vanilla extract. This allowed me to add my favorite flavor to the mix that's light and not overwhelming.

Once the almonds are mixed with water and vanilla it's time to strain. This takes a bit long because my bullet doesn't completely liquify the almonds but gets it to a point where I can get a nice tasting creamy milk. I purchased a sink hole cover to act as a strainer and it works wonders.

It took me about 1.5 hours to mix and strain enough milk to fit into my 32 oz container but it was worth it. The only downside is that it was a bit gritty so I'll get a cheesecloth for my next batch in order to make it as smooth as...milk!
