Fashion Spotlight: Kate Dioneda

May 15, 2014
I recently came across a new designer named Kate Dioneda and fell in love with her designs instantly. Her designs are really versatile and I like that her pieces can be used solo or with complimenting pieces to add a bit of edginess. These Black Sequined Mini Shorts would not only be great for a night out but can be worn at the office during the holiday season with some black tights (as shown), any blazer and funky pumps or skin tight boots.

My favorite piece from this collection is the Coat-to-Jacket in Wool with Faux Leather Sleeves. Just the thought of having a super versatile item in my closet makes me happy especially when I have to consider that I'm mostly in LA and would love to hop on a plane in October with a jacket and arrive in NYC (or London or Paris) with a coat and not ruin my look.

Overall I think Kate Dioneda's line is really feminine, edgy fashion that will help someone looking to spruce up their wardrobe without spending tons of money or ending up with the same items as anyone they know.  The newly launched site is open for business and the products ship worldwide so while I know summer hasn't even arrived I think it's time to start planning the perfect autumn/winter wardrobe. I've already ordered the Coat-to-Jacket and can't wait to wear it. Next up is said autumn trip to a colder destination in order to show off how awesome it is!

Posh V Pinch: Setting Spray

May 5, 2014

Setting spray is a product that is slowly gaining popularity among everyday people because it's a great way to go from work to the bar to after hours without having to lug 10 lbs of makeup around. Here are my low and high priced recommendations that I think are worth a try.
 Posh-$30

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray- $30.00

Urban Decay has cornered the eyeliner market with their bold, edgy colors and funky names. They also created the first eyeshadow primer that had everyone raving so why not complete the process with a product that will promise to help makeup last all night from the outside. Summers in NYC were the worst time for tinted moisturizers or foundations because the humidity melted them off within hours. Powders lasted a bit longer but I never liked wearing them in the summer months because eventually it would look caked on. This product really helped my makeup last from 8am until 7am. The mist is so light that it helped my makeup set with a lasting (but not greasy) dewy finish without making me feel as if I just washed my face.

Pinch-$3

e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set- $3.00

I recently did makeup for a shoot that was hours long, took place indoors, on a sunny rooftop and under heavy lights and was hesitant to use this product because I didn't want the cast to look greasy or shiny on film. After realizing that some actors might end up looking a little too matte behind the lens I gave this a try and was really happy with the results on some of the cast. I noticed that this product works well to tone down powder and give some a more natural look while locking in the makeup at the same time. I had to make sure to spray about 12 inches from their faces because I didn't want to risk any product getting on clothes. The downside that I found in this is that it makes people with oily skin look greasy if they don't prime correctly. Otherwise it's a great deal and has become a staple in my makeup kit.
