CoQ10 Fast-Melt Tablets

Jun 30, 2014

I've got to say that these tablets were really fun to take. I like that they were chewable and didn't at all have a bad taste. I was taking the Qspeed CoQ10 tablets before working out and while I don't know if it helped with my workout I did like how quick they dissolved and how I didn't experience any negative effects.

The company markets this product for everyone from children to the elderly and since they're fast melt tablets you can just pop a few in your mouth while you're on the go without needing to wash it down. ***I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Cassani Fogless Shower Mirror

Jun 25, 2014
Being a makeup and skincare addict means that I need to be surrounded by mirrors at home, especially my bathroom. The only issue with that is how foggy they all are when I get out of the shower to finish up my routine. Lucky for me I finally found a fogless mirror that does the trick!

Cassani's Fogless Shower Mirror is mostly marketed for men, as it comes with razor hooks that you can attach near the mirror in the shower for an easy and quick shave but I think it works just as great for women. I like to put my contacts in right after I shower and not having a foggy mirror makes that easy for me. I also use a few masks or treatments on after that I like to let set while I get dressed and when I'm in a rush not having to deal with fog really makes a difference. I highly recommend picking this up and keeping it next to your bathroom cabinet for those after shower primping or, if you're a man, for an easy shower shave.

UNi Moroccan Argan Oil

Jun 22, 2014

I first used Moroccan Argan Oil back in 2011 when I was in Manchester, UK and was in desperate need of de-frizzing my hair in that awfully humid weather. I was hooked from that moment on but then seemed to have lost my way when I started coming to LA a lot because humidity doesn't exist here.

Now, years later, here I am trying it again. UNi Argan Oil has helped keep my legs smooth and hydrated without feeling heavy or greasy. I like that I can mix it with my bronzers, self tanners, and sunscreen without it creating a mess. I've also used it on my hair that is in desperate need of a keratin treatment and it's help keep the slight frizz at bay.

The only downfall of this product for me is the smell. I'm not at all gaga over it but thankfully I can easily mix it with my other scented products

Book Review: Coffee Dates From Hell

I have admitted to my lack of reading anything other than a glossy magazine over the last few years but when I was given the chance to read this book I jumped at the chance. These days if I'm going to pick up a book I want it to be light, fun and quick.

Coffee Dates From Hell by Jim Tilberry is just that. I was able to get through it fairy quick and had a few laughs throughout. I liked that it was dry and witty and didn't take itself too seriously. And anyone that's ever experienced online dating or any type of blind date in general where a 'meet and greet' was done before an actual date can relate to some of the scenarios here.

Product Du Jour: St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse

Jun 10, 2014

Continuing on with my love of bronzers here is a brand that has made it's mark. St. Tropez is one of the best brands on the market for self tanning and bronzing and their Self Tanning Mousse is one of the reasons why.

Pros
Because it's a mousse it doesn't take more than a few seconds to rub on without leaving any streaks. It's also a really light product so you can mix it with a moisturizer to keep your skin from getting dry. Another plus is that this gives an instant glow even if you have darker skin. I also like that this doesn't rub off on clothes or furniture because it dries pretty quick and well.

Cons
Because it isn't in a cream some people may need to apply a bit more to develop a richer bronze.

I always say that my ideal bronzer will make my legs to look like I just got off a yacht in St. Tropez and the products from this brand really make that happen!

Product Du Jour: Philosophy's Help Me Retinol Treatment

Jun 9, 2014

A few years ago I decided to change the way I looked at my face. I realized that instead of using more makeup to coverup imperfections I really needed to take care of my skin from the inside. From that point on surface solutions were out the window. I haven't used concealer since 2009 and only wear a light tinted moisturizer thanks to my favorite retinol treatment ever, Help Me by Philosophy.

Pros
Using this product nightly or every other night will transform your skin. Within weeks you will notice a drastic improvement in fine lines, have much smoother, brighter skin and a more even skin tone. I was very happy to discover this product before my NYC nightlife aged it more than it had and was able to reverse the damage.

Cons
If you have sensitive skin you'll have to use a teeny amount to start and build your way up. You'll also always want to wear a daily moisturizer with an SPF 30+ to avoid sensitivity.

The price for this product can be a bit scary for some but I strongly believe that we need to take care of our skin, no matter the cost, before it's too late. It's so much better, easier and cheaper to delay signs of aging or an unhealthy lifestyle than it is to try to reverse it once it's in full swing. Having said that I've found that the full size of Help Me is always the same size as the standalone when it's included in a skin care kit. So if you purchase Philosophy's Makeup Optional Skin Kit for $72 you not only get the best retinol treatment that lasts months but will also have a full sized bottle of their gentle Purity Made Simple cleanser, Hope in a Jar moisturizer and Eye Hope which is their highly rated eye cream.

Product Du Jour: Supergoop Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil

Jun 6, 2014

Applying oil to your legs before hitting the sun gives the same feel as applying a bronzer in a way because it instantly draws attention.

The Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil Broad Spectrum SPF 50 by Supergoop! (not affiliation to Ms. Paltrow's goop website by the way) is a product that gives great sun protection while giving great moisture. Since it's a spray it's easy to apply on the go and will never leave you feeling greasy.

Pros
Since it's a spray it's easy to apply on hard to reach places as well as on the go. It soaks into the skin quick so it won't leave your skin looking or feeling greasy.

Cons
The price. It's $26 for 5oz which is a lot more than most sunscreens but if cost is the only issue then you know a product is worth it.

If you're looking to try a different type of sunscreen and don't want to feel the heaviness of creamy ones or the greasiness of gels I recommend giving this product a shot.

Product Du Jour: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Jun 5, 2014

I've never used a product with real cocoa powder until I was introduced to the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer by Too Faced. It not only gives a shimmer-less bronze but the smell is divine. I also didn't see myself accepting a bronzer that didn't also give me a glow until I used this for a few days.

Pros
It was nice to switch things up and and get a more toned down yet perfectly even bronzed look. Another plus from this bronzer is that the amount of coverage is really light so you can adjust it to your liking and it works great for people with very light to medium skin tones without making it obvious that makeup is being used.

Cons
If you have darker skin this product will not work for you as a bronzer because of the lack of shimmer. It will however work well as a mattifier so that aspect is more of a pro within a con!

Overall I think it's a great product for people who are still new to the differentiation between a shimmer and a glitter but still want to have fun with a bronzer. The $30 price tag isn't bad either considering that depending on your skin tone, a little can go a long way!

Product Du Jour: Ole Henriksen Protect The Truth SPF 50 Suncreen

Jun 4, 2014

Ole Henriksen is a brand that I've been raving about ever since I picked up one of their deluxe skin care kits back in November of 2013. I fell in love with how light their products were, the amazing scents, and how well they actually worked.

Pros
Keeping in tune with the main reason for a product to get a thumbs up from me Protect The Truth SPF 50 Sunscreen is lightweight and oil-free. It also contains ingredients that help firm skin and boost collagen while protecting it from the sun. That's a win-win in my book. It also helps to repair mild pre-existing sun damage which is a claim not many sunscreens can make.

Cons
I like to keep my SPF coverage in the 20-35 range so having one with SPF 50 may mean I'd have to be out in the sun a lot longer in order to get color. Being out in the sun more will make me sweat the product off quicker with will result in using more of the product. It's also not a moisturizing sunscreen which means you'd have to apply an extra product to your face.

My overall opinion is that this is an amazing lightweight sunscreen with really high SPF so if you want double the coverage of most sun protecting facial products then this is the one for you! I also adore the brand because their products have proven results. If you don't mind spending a bit more for something that is stellar then give this a try.

Product Du Jour: Peter Thomas Roth's Moisture Defense Lotion

Jun 3, 2014

The Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion with SPF 30 by Peter Thomas Roth is one of the best moisturizing lotions with SPF out there. Not only is it extremely lightweight but it's antioxidants help it do double duty as a sun protectant and a super hydrator. I really like the smell of this product and it's a nice change from their powder sunscreen that I used to use when I was first introduced to this brand years ago. It's lightweight enough that I can mix it with my ultimate favorite tinted moisturizer by Laura Mercier and have a scent that I adore.

It does come at a hefty price considering it's $42 for 1.7oz but it's all about quality over quantity and a little bit most certainly goes a long way.

Product Du Jour: Tarte's Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanner

Jun 2, 2014

I started buying high end bronzing products from Tarte back in 2007 when I bought their mineral powder bronzer in Hotel Heiress. I liked the subtlety of the bronzing power as well as the cute little chain that came with the case.

Fast forward 7 years and I’m now in love with their Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanner. This product acts as an instant bronzer while seeping into your skin order to help you achieve the look you want. Another plus is that after a few uses you'll start to see your skin improve thanks to the vitamin c and antioxidants in the maracuja oil. I have dry looking skin on my calves no matter how much oils or lotions I apply but the maracuja oil in this product leaves my skin looking smooth, perfectly bronzed and feeling amazing!
