Let's get straight to the point: the tap water in LA is gross. It tastes like metal and it feels super thick. But in my effort to be super clean by the end of 2017, I can't justify buying tons of water bottles and creating waste. Seriously I've become a super fucking hippie, right!?!?
I had a Brita filter a few months back that was okay. Or I think it was okay. I was able to have better than LA tap water that was cold whenever I wanted so to me, it was perfect. It didn't do any kind of special filtering though like this alkaline water filter does though. I've been drinking alkaline water on and off for the last few years because my friend has a huge filter and it's the only filtered water she had in the house so the concept of it isn't entirely new to me.
This Alkaline Filter has a digital timer that lets you know when the cartridge has exhausted its ability to remove all the chlorine, metals and nasty odors from tap water so you know when to order your new one. This filtered water is said to help with energy levels and boost the immune system. I can't say I ever noticed the effects of drinking alkaline water as opposed to regularly filtered water, but I know that my friend swears by it, so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me.
Totally check this out if you want an inexpensive alkaline filter but also do your homework and buy one of those strips so that you can see what's actually being filtered out of your drinking water as well as the amount.
Oh, and the filters aren't really pricy and last 2 months, which isn't a bad deal.
