Silicone For Your....Face!

I've been dying to try out these silicone make up applicators that everyone has been using but while I wanted to go with the trends I generally like to apply all of my makeup and facial products with my hands. I of course always wash them immediately before (and after) and find that this is a super hygienic way to apply makeup.

But finally I gave in and now I have one. I like the claims that silicone applicators make: even distribution of liquid and powder makeup, doesn't waste product by soaking it into the application and it's super easy to clean. They say it's really good for contouring as well but I don't do that so I wouldn't be able to speak to that now or anytime soon.

I used this a few times and because I'm used to applying everything with my hands, it took a bit of getting used to. Luckily I don't have many facial products that are clear aside from my oils, which I mix with my foundation anyway, so I was able to see how much product was being wasted. That percentage was low. Really low. I cleaned this off the way I normally clean my eye makeup brushes, with my Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap, and there was hardly any product going down the drain because there wasn't much left on the sponge to begin with.

There are tons of these on the market, each one saying they're better than the rest, but as long as the product is hypoallergenic and is make with actual silicone, I think price should be the determining factor. The silicone makeup blender applicator that I got, and that I used for this post is super inexpensive and of course, if you're like me and grab this from Amazon, you're gonna get free shipping.

I'm going to keep giving this a try. I'm moving towards going natural by the end of 2017 with all of my skincare and beauty products and those items are super pricey. Knowing that I'm not going to be wasting product if for some reason I decide that my hands aren't going to do the job anymore with my makeup application is a really good thing.
